To broaden the artistic reach of its orchestras, the Academy of Music of the Palacio de Minería founded its own professional chorus, making its debut during the 2017 Summer Season under guest conductor James Demster in a performance of Bach’s St John Passion.
Each summer in Sala Nezahualcóyotl, the Coro de Minería crowns the season’s final gala with monumental works such as Mahler’s Second and Beethoven’s Ninth—cornerstones of music history.
True to its inclusive spirit, the chorus also embraces lighter fare with Minería Pops: holiday medleys, orchestral versions of Beatles classics, or choral arrangements of sones jarochos. Whatever the genre, the commitment remains the same—bringing vocal music of the highest caliber to audiences everywhere.
