Passion for music is contagious. And that is one of the great challenges of a contemporary orchestra: to spread the passion for music among new audiences. Perhaps the most direct form of musical diffusion is to take concerts to new spaces. However, there are other ways. For example, music appreciation talks. At Minería we offer them not only as an approach to the programs that make up our traditional Temporales de verano, but also throughout the year, mainly in the Faculties of the UNAM.

Our music appreciation talks are usually given by maestros Juan Arturo Brennan and Oscar Herrera. They are characterized by:

  • His pleasant, direct and clear tone.
  • To have the intention of bringing classical music closer to all people, regardless of their level of musical knowledge.
  • Be accompanied by audio and video materials. On special occasions, musicians from the orchestra also participate, performing live excerpts from the work being analyzed.
  • To provide the historical and cultural context of each work in order to understand its place in history.
  • To offer useful tools to discover aspects that allow a greater understanding of the work. For example, if it is a work that follows an extra-musical program (such as Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique) or if characters and/or concepts relate to specific instruments or themes within the orchestra (as in the case of Wagner's operas).
